I am getting just a blue screen

#1

Hi,

Can anyone help me? I have just installed the Delicode NI mate and am using the Kinect 1 sensor on a Mac using Yosemite OS 10.10.5. On the view screen in the Kinect for Windows control panel. I just get a blue screen.

Can anyone advice on this?

Thank you

Since you posted this in the NI mate 1 category, are you using NI mate 1 or NI mate 2? What are the contents of the log window?

The log output says you’re using a Kinect v2 and not v1. Could you confirm this?

There’s also this line:

08:22:52: Input 1: Subroutine update timeouted after 3000 milliseconds.
08:22:52:
Input 1: Usually this is a problem related to the USB device being
operated. Make sure the USB device is properly connected and you aren't
 running out of USB bandwidth.

Is the Kinect v2 plugged into a USB3 port? The bandwidth requirements of the Kinect 2 sensors are rather immense, and anything else using that bandwidth is going to cause problems.

If the sensor stays up without shutting down with the timeout message and there’s still no live feed output, go in the preferences -> General and disable GPU Texture Transfer, then restart NI mate. Does that help?

#6

Hi Jesse,

Yes I am using the Kinect v2.

It is directly connected to an imac. How would I know if it is running out of bandwidth. Should I disconnect all other USB devices?

Thanks

#7

Hi Jesse,

I disabled the GPU Texture Transfer and that appears to be working now.

Thank you very much for your help.

#8

The GPU texture transfer problem is this. Out of curiosity, which graphics card does your Mac have?

#9

It is AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB
