Quick question about Kinect v1 USB compatibility

Hello. I’m working on a simple motion capture studio using the old Kinect v1 (the one for Xbox 360, model 1414) and a Windows 10 computer with 4 GB of RAM. I’m considering getting an adapter to connect the Kinect to my PC, but I need to know something beforehand.

The problem is, the NI Mate FAQ states that a Kinect v1 needs a USB 2 port in order to work with NI Mate and I only have USB 3 ports on my machine. Many google searches told me USB 3 is backwards compatible with most USB 2 gear. Does this apply here as well? If not, is there any way to get the Kinect working on my computer?

The Kinect may work in a USB3 port. What’s important is that you follow the unsigned driver installation instructions to make sure NI mate can use the Kinect using the correct SensorKinect driver.
