What decides which body parts appear in Skeleton tracking?


I am importing empties from NI Mate into Blender and need particular body parts empties.

This is the screenshot from my NI Mate (using the Xtion Pro Live as a sensor):

This is the screenshot from someone else’s NI Mate (using a Kinect 2.0 as a sensor):

Notice the slight differences in body parts. For example his has ankles while mine does not.

Is there a reason why his body parts are different from mine? Different versions of NI Mate? Different sensors?


Different sensor SDKs offer different skeleton tracking information. The Kinect for Windows v2 uses the Microsoft SDK on Windows by default and has more tracked skeleton joints. Kinect for XBox 360, Asus XTion Pro Live and PrimeSense Carmine 1.08x have only the skeleton joints you’re seeing.
